BYD shows a RWD electric hatchback concept

BYD Group has come to the auto show in Beijing with Ocean M, a one-off concept car that the company plans to bring into production before the end of the year.

At this point, though, it is a pure design study lacking an actual powertrain. The company comments that this is how it sees its next all-electric hatchback running on a next-generation architecture with the drive on the rear axle. The photos make it look about as large as a Volkswagen Golf, but with an aggressive racing-style body kit installed.

Reporters in China expect the Ocean-M Concept to distill into a production five-door hatchback sometime in the third quarter of the current year.
