Waymo driverless cars fall under investigation

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched a probe into self-driving tech company Waymo and its autonomous cars.

Recently uncovered evidence points to the startup’s Automated Driving System (ADS) being guilty of at least 22 road incidents. These include collisions with stationary vehicles, gates, and auto barriers, as well as ignoring traffic signs, going the wrong way, and trespassing in road maintenance areas.

The NHTSA stresses that there have been no reports of human injury in connection with these incidents. It still insists that the behavior of the ADS demands a further study due to how unpredictable it can be.
